Christmas Vacation, 2010!

Our "Charlie Brown Tree" named Scraggly

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Our family sure had a blast. This year, since it was our first Christmas in our new house in the "forest", we decided to cut down our tree from our own backyard. Look at the picture to the right and you will see why some of us were a little reluctant to go through with this:

Christmas Breakfast at Grandma's

Christmas Eve dinner was delicious, and though we got some awesome presents this year (including professional oil paints, yummy coconut chocolates and a flat screen TV!)  we didn't forget the true meaning of Christmas.

We all were snacking like crazy the whole week....We had so many treats and cookie plates lying around, and we just couldn't help ourselves!

I'm very much looking forward to the new year, and I do have some big goals in mind...May 2011 bring you great joy and happiness!

season's greetings

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope your are all having fun eating sweets and making memories.

I'm going to take a blogging break for a little until the new year comes around, so I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)

November is gone.

Swiftly fly the days.....November is gone. It is always a sad day when you must take down all of your autumn decorations and stuff them into a box in the garage. :'(   NaNoWriMo has also ended. I got about 25 college ruled spiral notebook pages, which is pretty good for my second year. :)

Ah, well, enough moping about. December is here! And Christmas is coming! Well, bring on the snowflakes!

Turkey Day Weekend!

Happy late Thanksgiving to all, and may we be grateful for all that we have each and every day! This break was full of craziness... my cousins came over from California and Idaho, and we had a blast!

During the gingerbread house
construction, most of the "houses"
turned out to be ruins of Candyland,
as my cousin Ethan put it...mine
was the only one standing!

My cousin Brayton and I went
on our first family temple trip
together to the Portland Oregon
temple to do baptisms. It was so special!

The food at Thankgiving was delicious beyond comparison...
this is definitely one of my favorite
times of year...

A great invention was discovered in my household over this break...a little game called hide-and-seek-in-the-dark. You turn off all of the lights, and when the seeker finds you, they play some low, spooky notes on the piano. The best thing about it is that you can hide in plain sight and nobody will see you!

I watched the Fiddler on the Roof movie this weekend and I loved it! It's very...bitter-sweet: so happy and so sad.

Over all, my Thanksgiving weekend was wonderful!!! :)

Is that...SNOW?!

Last night, Brooke and I went and saw the Fiddler on the Roof play (which was SO cute, by the way). It was so cold outside after the show, that we thought it might snow. She told me about how she wore her pajamas inside-out and she was snowed in the next day. I've been trying this for a few days now...and it finally worked!!! :) It was only a little sprinkle, but it's something.

Success!!!

Brooke, a few other kids at school, and I started a school newspaper, called The Senior Sentinel, and so far it's a big hit! At first when we made 75 copies we thought we'd completely over-shot the amount that we'd need...but we sold them all! We made $18.30, and all the money went to the school. Hooray for the Sentinel! :)

P.S. We now have a blog for the paper so that you can look at the issues online!

upittydate

It's amazing what you can do when you don't have a computer...

Our computer had to be taken in to get fixed, so I have not been blogging for a while now. (Well, it's been a while to me.) I have a major update to do!

1. PAINT FEVER

I did lots of painting this week. I created two masterpieces, both of which I am very pleased with. The first was for a YW value project, and the other was just for fun.

2. Harry Potter-ed out.

Nathan finished the Harry Potter books two and three, so we thought we'd watch the movies as a reward for finishing them. I haven't seen the movies for so long, so it was fun to watch them late at night with my family.

Only, Lauren decided she like them so much, we watched it four more times throughout the rest of the week. I was very Harry Potter-ed out.

3. YW in Excellence

Young Women in Excellence is when our ward's Young Women group gets together and displays what value projects they've done and talents they've developed. It was so special to see that there are other people with my same standards!

4. NaNoWriMo!

I officially started my National Novel Writing Month story! I only have about 800 words so far, but it's a good start! :) Is anyone else taking on NaNoWriMo? How is it going for you?

That's all I have for right now.... happy blogging! :)

Autumn's Spell

A practice piece in a painting class turned out to be one of my latest masterpieces. It was so much fun to make. Fall is my favorite season. I titled it "Autumn's Spell."

Scripture Power!

I have been reading The Book of Mormon every night for the past week, and I feel so great! Reading and studying the scriptures daily is truly putting on the armor of God.

This week's scripture is John 14:15...
"If ye love me, keep my commandments."
Happy reading! :)

I'm done!

I finished Return of the King last night, and I loved it! At last I can officially say I have read all of The Lord of the Rings books.

A truly magical place lies within these pages...

We were definately livin' it to the max. (A very 80's phrase.)

Pretty Young Things....

Bombdigity. (Also 80's.)

Mullets and Michael. (Definitely 80's.)

Do you think they're scared of him yet?

Going to the store afterwards to buy some . . . dogfood . . .
WE WON THE BEST DRESSED AWARD!!!
And to top it off, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was the last song we heard before we left.
I'm telling you man, the 80s are comin' back.

Braces Part 2

I got them on. And they hurt. Bad.

See 'em? Cute, but painful.
I can't eat anything but liquid and it stinks, I tell you. But for straight teeth, it's worth it. :)

I found it.

I found it. I think I found my new favorite word.

Serendipity.

Serendipity. Isn't it cute? It's when you're prone to finding . . . accidental happiness, you know, like finding somethings nice while looking for something else. I've been searching for my favorite word for a very long time and I think this is it.

Serendipity. Yay!

At school, we get to decorate our composition journals with magazine pictures. I really liked the way I did one of my covers:

First day of school! First day of school!

Today was my first day of seventh grade. Seventh grade . . . oh, where has it all gone? The day went wonderfully, especially since my best friend Brooke is going there too! ☺ I love my teacher, and Brooke and I started an advice column. This year's going to be great!

The Last Day.

Today.
Friday, August 27 2010.
This day is the last day.

Today is the last day of summer.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I'm kind of excited for school to start. My best friend's going there now, I still have my favorite teacher, and I've learned quite a bit over the summer.
Happy Last Day!
