Small and simple things

Did anyone else see the moon tonight? It was just so . . . amazing. I see the full moon every month and I always take a few minutes to admire the beauty, but this time was different. It was simply stunning. Lots of people say that they feel the most peace in nature watching a sunset or a sunrise. But there's something about the quiet and mystery of the night that makes it magical. The tall sillhouettes of the pine trees against the night sky . . . the clouds lingering low in the sky illuminated by the silvery glow of the moon . . . the chorus of frogs singing somewhere in the forest . . .You listen more intently and notice more sounds when everything around you is shrouded in darkness.
I couldn't seem to take my eyes off the moon and I must have been out in the freezing cold in my backyard just staring at it for a half an hour. It was worth it though;  in that short period of time I felt more peace than as long as I can remember. I tried to take a picture of it with my mom's camera, but after a few tries, I realized it just couldn't quite capture the feeling, and it would never be the same as the real thing. So I decided I would just sit outside and admire it until I had the sight painted into my mind. I never wanted that moment to end, I wanted to remember it
forever.
Sorry guys, I just felt impressed to share this. Hopefully the moon will be out tomorrow night! You need to go and take a peek at it. It is the small and simple things that are the most beautiful to my eye . . .

  1. Nicole,

Funny that we were looking at the same moon last night! I told Artyom that it looked like it had something extra special last night! I am so glad you took the time to admire it's beauty as well. We are very blessed to have such beauties in our lives. What a wonderful Father in Heaven we have that gave us these things.
    Thanks for sharing!!! Love you,

  2. Nicole,
I think what you aid is definatly true. The world has so many undiscovered beauties, the moon is one that we all have access to, yet not very many people truely appriciate the beauty of one thing that can not be grasped in one's hand.

  3. Sorry if there is few things that are misspelled, I wasn't paying much attention to what button I did or didn't push, so yeah that is why there is a few misspelled words.

  4. We were looking at the same moon last night!!! It was a beauty, wasn't it? All the stars were out and amazing too. I wished so bad that Myles could've seen it. He LOVES the moon! Whenever he gets to see it (usually in the wee hours of the morning when we take the trash out) he always so, "Oh big, shiny ball." It's the best!! Thanks for noticing the beauty around us!! Love you Cole!
