in honor of district 12

I'm pretty much the only person in this whole town who hasn't seen the Hunger Games movie yet, because I love my best friend Brooke so much I'm waiting for her to come back from vacation tomorrow so we can see it Monday together. And just so I can prove my loyalty to you, Brooke, my parents are going to see it tonight and I am not, by my choosing. Don't worry, Brooke. I won't snap. I will be strong.

So instead of running around the house freaking out about how I can't wait to see the movie, I run around freaking out and productively create Hunger Games related things while I wait. Patiently.

Here is my vain attempt at making Mockingjay-style nails. Me and my friend at our sleep over were having an awesome time playing with her decorative nail polish brushes, as you can see.

And here is a sketch I made of Katniss and Peeta in their arena uniforms. It took me forever to get their faces right... but I think it turned out cool anyway.

Also, I conveniently have figured out "Safe and Sound" on the piano and have been practicing it and singing with Brooke who's learning how to play the violin. Monday just can't come fast enough can it?

EDIT: Guess what? It's Saturday now, and Brooke invited me to see the Hunger Games! I just got back, and it was awesome!! My parents changed their plans and are going to see it right now. You know, just in case any of you care.

  1. This is amazing! I love the drawing. The faces are perfect, so don't worry about that. The nails are--to use a word I rarely use--epic. :P I've figured out Safe and Sound on the piano, too! I'm so sad, they only play it on the credits. There are other Hunger Games-inspired songs out there, and you should listen to Eyes Open (shown to me by my friend ZE) which is, like Safe and Sound, by Taylor Swift. Waiting for Brooke is such a kind thing to do! Keep it up! You are such a good friend. Besides, it'll be funner that way, even though you'll just be staring like zombies at a screen for 2 1/2 hours ... haha! have fun at the movie. I'll try not to spoil anything else ...

  2. Nicole, I don't know if you remember me, I am Tess's friend. I met you at a few things but I had to comment and tell you how talented you are! The drawings are excellent and inspiring. Makes me want to start drawing again. We have been doing Hunger game hair! You should try it!

I hope you enjoyed the movie!

    1. Hey, thanks for the compliments, Britt! :) Hunger Games hair sounds really awesome! I wish I could actually French braid well so I could do some Katniss inspired do's, but mine end up looking like...well, not a braid.
      Thanks for the comment! :)
